GUIDELINES AND CONDITIONS FOR ISSUANCE E-VISA

Requirements for obtaining a Vietnamese E-Visa

  • Foreign nationals currently residing abroad who wish to apply for a visa to Vietnam.
  • Valid passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of entry and have at least 2 blank pages.
  • Not falling under the cases stipulated in Article 21 of the Law on entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.
  • Purpose of entry: Clearly and legally valid, such as tourism, visiting relatives, short-term business, employment, or business (depending on the type of eVisa).
  • Nationality: Must be on the list of countries whose citizens are allowed to apply for eVisa in Vietnam (this can be checked on the Ministry of Public Security’s Public Service Portal).
  • Not subject to entry ban: No criminal record, not prohibited from leaving the country, and not in violation of Vietnamese law.

    Present your passport or other valid international travel document, or documents related to your residence in Vietnam, to the accommodation establishment for processing. temporary residence declaration according to regulations.

Related issues

  • Foreign nationals granted e-visas, upon entering Vietnam, may have their visa application reviewed by the Immigration Department for a new visa if sponsored by a domestic agency, organization, or individual, in accordance with the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.

Note: Foreign nationals falling under the provisions of Clauses 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Article 8 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam do not apply for electronic visas on this website, but instead, through their inviting or sponsoring agency or organization, send a written request for a visa to the competent authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

List of border crossings that accept E-visas

  • Air border crossings: Domestic and international airports are permitted to accept eVisa passengers.
  • Seaports: Commercial seaports where entry is permitted using eVisa.
  • Land border crossings: Pairs of border crossings announced by the competent authority.

Airport immigration instructions

  • Prepare your documents (most important): Valid passport/citizen identification card (usually valid for more than 6 months), visa (if traveling abroad), round-trip air ticket to a third country, and any additional documents (vaccination certificates, insurance, etc.) depending on the requirements of the destination country.
  • Arrive at the airport early: International flights require arriving earlier than domestic flights (at least 2-3 hours before departure time).
  • Check-in procedures: At the counter: Present documents, check in baggage, receive boarding pass; Self-check-in kiosk: Self-check-in, print boarding pass; Online: Check in via airline app/website beforehand, only need to check in baggage at the counter.
  • Going through Security: Present your boarding pass, passport, and carry-on baggage through the X-ray machine (remove electronic devices, liquids, etc.).
  • Immigration/Customs Area: International Flights: Present your passport, visa, and boarding pass to the customs/border control officer. Use the AutoGate (if eligible – passport with chip): Scan your passport and boarding pass at the automatic gate. The gate will open.
  • Find your boarding gate: Use the information on your boarding pass to find the correct gate.
  • Boarding the plane: As announced by the airline, proceed to the boarding gate when instructed.
